What is Locking Gas Springs?

Locking gas springs, also known as locking gas struts or locking gas dampers,.ocking gas springs release button are mechanical devices used to control the motion of objects by providing a controlled force. These lockable gas springs use compressed gas, typically nitrogen, to generate the force necessary for movement. What sets lockable gas struts apart from conventional gas springs is their ability to lock in position at any desired point along their stroke.

What types of Locking Gas Springs are there?

1.Rigid Locking Gas Springs

Rigid locking gas springs lock solidly in either the compressed or extended state, offering no flexibility once locked.

 a.Compression Locking Gas Springs

These locking gas shock lock when compressed. Once in the compressed state, they do not allow any extension.Often used in situations where the load must remain fixed in a lowered or compacted position, such as in machinery guards or hatches.

 b.Extension Locking Gas Springs

These lock in the extended state, preventing any compression.Ideal for applications requiring the load to stay raised or extended, like in adjustable work surfaces or certain types of seating.

  1. Elastic Locking Gas Springs

Elastic locking gas springs allow for some movement even when locked, providing a balance between rigid locking and flexibility.

a.Elastic Locking in Compression

Locks primarily in the compressed state but allows for some give or elasticity.Used in applications where slight movement is acceptable or beneficial, such as in ergonomic chairs or adjustable beds.

b.Elastic Locking in Extension

Locks in the extended state with some flexibility.Suitable for uses requiring slight adjustments when extended, like in overhead storage compartments or adjustable shelving.

3.Adjustable Locking Gas Springs

Adjustable locking gas springs can lock at any point along the stroke, offering versatile positional control. Widely used in adjustable workstations, reclining furniture, and anywhere variable height or position control is needed.

from Gastac can offer optimum weight equalization during opening, closing and positioning. A special piston / valve system, which separates the two pressure chambers in the gas spring, allows effortless variable locking. If the valve tappet is released from the outside and the exchange between the pressure chambers is interrupted, the gas spring will lock and hold even heavy loads reliably in the desired position.

What are the different types of locking gas springs?
Locking gas spring is called lockable gas spring, locking gas strut, lockable gas strut, bloc o lift. They are used for convenient and safe adjustment of sitting posture and lying position, they can provide variable locking in any stroke position.Gastac locking gas spring three types of Lockable Gas Struts flexible , rigid in extension locking gas spring , and rigid in compression lockable gas spring.
Flexible Locking: Under intense compression or tension loads, the rod may slightly flex. For optimal performance, these springs should be used with the rod pointing downward, unless an oil chamber system is employed.
